I often get asked about "why" I have chosen to be a part of the Beautycounter movement while also being a Health Coach. Why would I choose to "sell makeup and skin care"? And so I have decided to share some of my thoughts with you. First, for me, Beautycounter is not about "selling makeup and skin care". I deeply committed to helping others figure out ways to improve and safeguard their health. As a Health Coach, I guide clients to look not only at the foods they choose to purchase and consume, but also at their stress management tools, exercise routines, sleep quality and yes ingredients in the products -- both skin care and cleaning -- that they and their family members use everyday! I strongly believe that the ingredients in the foods we eat directly affect our health and wellbeing, and I also believe that the ingredients we absorb through our skin affects our health too.
I know that we can often become overwhelmed when we begin thinking about food quality, air quality, water quality, and then find ourselves faced with a barrage of products all claiming to be healthy for us. And sadly, the reality is that the labels we think are providing us with information have little real meaning. To quote 'Our Story Beautycounter':
"Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including but not limited to asthma, cancer, and infertility) are on the rise and are due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it's in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home.
There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don't have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skin care and beauty industry.
What's worse is that the Food and Drug Administration (the agency that regulates cosmetics in the United States) does not have the authority to remove harmful ingredients from the products we put on our bodies and on our kids' bodies every single day, day after day." Read More go to Our Story
Those are the facts, and they can be overwhelming. And sometimes that overwhelm can shut down our best efforts. Those of us who are looking to take control of our health and balance already have a huge task in front of us when it comes to finding healthy foods. That's why, for me, joining the Beautycounter movement was a simple decision. I believe in the Beautycounter mission. I believe in the Beautycounter leadership. I believe in the quality and safety of the Beautycounter products. And I believe in using my power of my purchasing decisions to bring about positive social change.
Trusting the transparency and integrity of Beautycounter means that I have one less thing to worry about because I know that the products I purchase are of the best quality and are safe for me and my family.
So now you know a small piece of my "why". I hope you can see that what I do is so much more than "selling makeup and skincare". If you are wondering how you can be involved, here are some simple ways:
I would love to share more of 'my why' with you.
